Getting started with Kount Advanced Fraud Prevention is simple and fast. Once enabled, it automatically begins screening your transactions using AI-powered fraud detection—no coding required.
This article walks you through activation, supported payment tools, and optional settings like Approval Rate Requirements and default currency.
Prerequisites
Before activating Kount Advanced Fraud Prevention, confirm the following:
You have access to the Merchant Portal.
Your Merchant Service Provider offers Kount as a value-added service.
How to Enable Kount Advanced Fraud Prevention
Log into the Merchant Portal.
Navigate to the left panel → Marketplace Apps.
Select Kount Advanced Fraud Prevention.
Click Enable to activate the service.
If you don’t see Kount listed, contact your Merchant Service Provider to request access.
Approval Rate Requirement (ARR)
The ARR setting allows you to define a minimum approval rate for your business. This helps you manage risk tolerance by ensuring your fraud filters don’t become overly strict.
To set it:
Go to Settings → Security Options → Approval Rate Requirement.
Enter your desired approval percentage (e.g., 90%).
Save your changes.
Understanding Kount Risk Scores

Note: Session IDs are used to capture customer device data and should be regenerated every time your payment form loads.
Setting Your Default Currency
You can configure the currency Kount uses for threshold rules:
Go to Options → Settings → Country/Currency Configuration.
Set your Default Country and Default Currency.
Click Save.
After setting, visit Marketplace Apps → Kount Advanced Fraud Prevention → Threshold Management to re-enter your desired currency-based thresholds. Values reset to “0” upon currency change.
Common Questions
Do I need to log into another system to use Kount?
No. Everything is managed from your Merchant Portal.
Can I use Kount on custom-built checkout pages?
Yes, but your developer must pass a session ID from Gateway.js or the Payment API to activate full Kount functionality.
Will I see fraud decisions in my transaction reports?
Yes. All Kount status updates are visible in your transaction logs.
